Swara joined bollywood because she wanted to be on Chitrahar

Bollywood actress Swara Bhasker spoke about her Bollywood obsession and how she got seduced by the intimacy of the camera. She was a typical JNU-DU girl, but completely changed her look after entering Bollywood.

In an interview, Swara was asked that how the transition from JNU to Bollywood happened, she replied, "I think Bollywood comes to me like it comes to all of us in India. We are really a cinema going people. Like most of us, I grew up on Chitrahar and Superhit Mukabla. So I wanted to be in Chitrahar and Superhit Mukabla. This is how pathetic my intention was to get into Bollywood! But by the time I get into Bollywood, Chitrahar toh khatam ho gaya, and I did not get that much opportunity to sing and dance.

As I grew up, I started doing theatre, I was part of Act One, Pt NK Sharma was my teacher. I also did theatre in JNU's Indian People's Theatre Association (IPTA) for some time. I am not formally trained as an actor, I have never gone to an acting school and that is a big insecurity for me. I think I got seduced by the camera, and how close the eye of a film's camera can come to the performer's body - so close that if you change how you breathe, that will change your performance and that will be registered. It is so intimate. That is why we are so affected by our film stars. I know 'seduce' is the wrong word, but I think I got seduced by the intimacy of the camera."
