Indian women who won medals in Olympics

The Olympics are like the highest level game tournament. A sports person always dream of playing in the Olympics. To become a part of it is the biggest pride for any sports person. India has participated Olympics for a very long. And since then the Indians have won many gold, silver and bronze medals. Most of the medals are won by men, but our Indian players are amazing too. There are 5 women who have won a medal in the Olympics and today we will talk about them.

The first women who were able to won a medal at the Olympics was Karnam Malleswari who won a bronze medal at the Sydney Olympics in the women’s 69kg category in weightlifting. She has also won many other tournaments and has even won a gold medal. She was awarded by Rajeev Gandhi Khel Ratna and Padma Shri.

Mary Kom was the second women who were able to win a bronze medal for India. She participated in the London Olympics, where women’s boxing was featured as a sport for the first time. Mary was the only Indian to qualify for the event. She is also 5 time world champion. She is still playing recently won another tournament. She returned to the ring after a long gap.

Now a day wrestling is very popular. Once there was a time when girls were not even allowed to watch this game and now a woman from Haryana Sakshi Malik is winning medals in the Olympics. Sakshi was the first Indian woman to win a bronze in the Olympics. She participated in the 2016th Olympics held at the Rio.

Saina Nehwal a well known badminton player all over the world has also won a bronze medal at the Olympics. She was the first Indian women to win a medal in badminton. She is the world champion who holds 121 titles. Isn’t this is amazing.

We all know P. V. Sindhu she is an amazing badminton player. She is the first Indian women who won a silver medal in the Olympics. She is well known in the entire world. she reached at the finale of the Rio Olympics in 2016, however she lost against Spain. But still her own a silver and became the youngest woman to win an Olympic medal.
