Indian sports that are at the edge of extinction

This is well said that as the trends are coming we are forgetting our old cultures. This saying is not just can’t be applied in the field of culture, but also in the matter of sports. India has been doing so good in sports for a long time. India has made its own position among all the big countries and maintain them too. India is doing good in every sport. But I feel like among all this we are loosing our own games which are of our country and now they are not being played as much as the foreign sports. Yes, it is sad..

We are developing, but what is this development all about if we lose ourselves?

There are many games which we so popular once and now nothing. So lets discuss about them today.

Satoliya (Pitthu)

Satoliya (Pitthu) was the most popular game when we were kids. We love to play this. Doesn’t matter how much work load we had we somehow managed to play this everyday. Python is a game of seven stones that’s why it was called satoliya. In this 7 stones were arranged like a tower and then one team will hear this and will break the tower and then tries to rebuild the tower. Where else the other team will hit the players of another team with a ball so that no one can rebuild the tower. This game was a world once and now like nobody plays this game.

Gutte

Gutte is also a well known game among all the adults. Like everyone of us has played this game whether a girl or a boy we have enjoyed this game a lot. Basically, this game was for girls, but boys also use to play this game. In this there use to be five little stones in which you spin one stone in the air and pick other stones from the ground without dropping the stone in the air.

Kancha

Kancha was one of the most played game of that time. there was a time that every kid use to have a huge bottle of kancha with them and use to show this to all like its their medal or something. This was quit the tough game though. Both boys and girls played this. In this marbles were used which were called kancha.

Kho-Kho

Kho-Kho is still playing, but still its at the edge now this is a team game where one team uses to kneel in the middle of the court, in a row with a arrangements member facing opposite directions. The team that takes the shortest time to tap all the opponents in the field wins. This was one of my favourite games, but now rarely see any group of children playing this.

Gilli Danda

Gilli Danda is often called Indian version of cricket. This was a very famous game once. When there were girls and boys running over all the streets with sticks in their hands hitting a small wooden log called gillu. This game is almost extinct.
