Searching solitude in the wild
A Pune based contemporary artist, Snehal Page will display her creative work at Jehangir Art Gallery from 25th to 31st March. Present Exhibition “Mysterious Tree” is her visual and emotional response to botanical life around her.
Paintings exhibited in the show are inspired by unpredictable, everchanging designs and colours of trees in the wild. These trees give a feeling of profound solitude to the viewer with their untamed and mystic beauty. To share this rich experience, the artist has experimented with different mediums, compositions and renderings without committing to a certain style or ism. “After working in portraiture for many years experience of painting trees is been almost freeing as well as humbling,” Snehal says. “I have been working in the companionship of trees for more than two years. This journey is been enormously rewarding with all the challenges and struggles. I believe that the quiet, peaceful yet sturdy and firm presence of trees made me more sensitive and thoughtful.”
Snehal had a privilege to study figurative painting and portraiture at Studio Incamminati, Philadelphia USA. She is the proud recipient of many prestigious awards, to name a few, Certificate of Excellence from Portrait Society of America and Award for Outstanding Realistic Painting from Art Society of India. Her art presentations and demonstrations in various art institutions were well appreciated from all in the art field.
